A North Versailles man is facing a felony gun charge after, police say, he was caught trespassing during a Verona officer’s routine patrol on Saturday night.

While an officer was securing Riverbank Park, a Verona park that closes at sundown, he came across two men, Rikquan Fulmore, 19, and another man, trespassing and smoking what police said was later identified as marijuana in the playground area of the park, according to a criminal complaint filed in the case.

The officer attempted to identify the men and asked one of them to sit on a nearby bench, police said. During that time, the officer said, Fulmore was making “suspicious movements” in the waistband of his pants.

The officer said he saw Fulmore removing a firearm magazine from his sweatshirt pocket. A handgun then slid down the leg of Fulmore’s sweatpants and landed on the ground near his foot, the complaint said.

After seeing the gun, he held both men at gunpoint and demanded they get on the ground until backup arrived, according to the complaint.

Police said a records check revealed no registered owner for the gun and no record of it being stolen. Fulmore does not have a valid carry permit, police said.

Fulmore was charged with a felony count of carrying a firearm without a license and several misdemeanor counts, including defiant trespassing and two counts of prohibited acts.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 9 in District Judge Anthony DeLuca’s Penn Hills courtroom.
