Aspinwall resident Giuseppe Francioni believes family togetherness is the greatest thing in the world.

It’s one of the reasons he’s so passionate about an upcoming event that he and his team at the Aspinwall Chamber of Commerce put together for borough residents year after year.

“There’s nothing better than family,” said Francioni, chamber executive director.

The annual Fall in the Wall celebration is set for Oct. 12. Admission and parking are free.

Activities include pumpkin and face painting, pony rides, balloon artists, music, magicians, arts and crafts, food trucks and more.

Borough police and firefighters, as well as first responders for neighboring communities are expected to attend.

There will be information booth and games from a variety of nonprofits and other organizations.

“It’s a family event on steroids,” Francioni said. “If the weather’s nice, everybody and their mother comes out. The streets will be packed.”

Eastern Avenue from Freeport Road to First Avenue, as well as Commercial Avenue and Alley A will be closed for the event.

The Barnyard Petting Zoo will be bringing a variety of animals as part of a new interactive attraction.

Francioni said he looks forward to seeing everyone at the event, including two special youngsters.

His grandchildren, Via, 5, and Vance, 4, are expected to participate along with other relatives.

“You think when you do this for the whole community, it’s OK,” Francioni said. “I look at all the kids having fun. It’s extra incentive when you know that your own grandkids are getting a kick out of it, too. They are my pride and joy of Aspinwall.”

Several borough businesses may have special sales or activities as part of the event.

“Fall in the Wall is another event that showcases all the things that make Aspinwall great: our business partners, community spirit and the safe walkability to enjoy it all,” borough Manager Melissa Lang O’Malley said. “It’s the kickoff to the fall season.”
