Penguins beat Blue Jackets in final preseason road game

The Pittsburgh Penguins won their final road game of the preseason, defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets, 3-1, on Thursday at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

After Blue Jackets forward Cole Sillinger opened the scoring 7 minutes, 24 seconds into regulation with his third goal of the preseason, Penguins forward Valtteri Puustinen tied the contest at 4:52 of the second period with his first goal.

The Penguins took their first lead at 4:56 of the third frame via forward Jonathan Gruden’s first goal.

Penguins forward Kevin Hayes capped the scoring by collecting his second goal on an empty net at 19:17 of the third.

Goaltender Tristan Jarry made 33 saves on 34 shots and improved his record to 1-1-0.

The Penguins are scheduled to complete their preseason schedule Friday with a home contest against the Blue Jackets.
