A father and son were arrested in Mt. Pleasant Township for firing multiple shots at a man in a moving truck, according to the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office.
Paul Caletri Jr., 70, and Paul Caletri III, 30, were arrested by state police. They are each charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and reckless driving, according to the DA’s office.
A man told state police around 11 a.m. Thursday he was approached by the Caletris while he was in his truck along Bridgeport Street in Mt. Pleasant Township.
Caletri III appeared to be pointing a shotgun toward the driver’s side door of the truck, the man said.
The man told police he drove away when he heard Caletri III threaten to shoot him. The Caletris followed, each in his own vehicle, the man said.
The man told police that while he was being followed, he saw Caletri III hanging out of the window of his vehicle with a gun in his hand. The man said he heard multiple gunshots.
The Caletris rammed into the man’s truck, blocking his door near Coppula Drive, the man told police. The man climbed out of one of the truck’s windows and ran to a nearby gas station where he asked the clerk to call 911, he told police.
Police said Caletri III admitted to firing twice at the man’s car with a shotgun. No one was injured, the DA’s office said.
The Caletris were arraigned before District Judge Charles Moore on Friday, according to court records. A preliminary is scheduled for both men at 10 a.m. Dec. 25.
Caletri III was being held in the Westmoreland County Prison on $250,000 bail. Caletri Jr. was released.
