No children were hurt when a Kiski Area school bus was involved in a crash on Thursday afternoon in Washington Township, Superintendent Jason Lohr said.

The collision between the full-size bus and a car at Route 66 and Mamont Drive was reported shortly before 4 p.m.

Eight elementary school-age students were on the bus, Lohr said. There were no reported injuries.

“All of the students were evaluated by EMS before being dismissed to their parents or boarding another bus and the route was finished,” Lohr said.

The driver of the car and their adult passenger were taken to a hospital by ambulance for evaluation, according to Washington Township police.

According to Lohr, the bus was traveling south on Route 66 while the car was on Mamont Drive. The bus was making a left turn into Mamont when the vehicles collided.

Damage to the bus, operated by Smith Bus, was minor, he said.

Washington Township police were investigating the crash.

This was the second crash involving a school bus in the area this week.

On Tuesday, a Plum School District bus was one of five vehicles involved in a crash on Golden Mile Highway at South Duane Drive. Two children were among five people taken to hospitals from that scene.
