The Pittsburgh Penguins activated forward Evgeni Malkin from injured reserve Tuesday night ahead of their home game vs. the Seattle Kraken.
Malkin, who participated fully during the morning skate Tuesday, assumed his usual spot as second-line center during line rushes and was in line to return after an absence of four games.
The 38-year-old had been sidelined with an unspecified injury.
In 41 games, he has eight goals with 24 assists, averaging 18 minutes, 35 seconds of ice time.
The Penguins also reassigned forward Jesse Puljujarvi to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.
Puljujarvi, 26, has been a healthy scratch often this season and from Dec. 8-Jan 6, he did not crack the lineup in 11 straight games.
At the time of his reassignment, he’d appeared in four straight contests for the Penguins, beginning Jan. 7.
In 25 games this season, he has scored three goals with six assists while seeing 11:35 of ice time on average.
Puljujarvi became eligible for an assignment to a minor league affiliate after clearing waivers on Dec. 31. He is signed through 2024-25 at $800,000 annually.
