Letter to the editor: Decline of Steelers and Pirates

Why don’t Art Rooney and Bob Nutting trade teams? They can’t be any worse than they are now.
Both men are making tons of money from ticketholders, concessions, TV revenue, parking and whatever. It seems that both could care less about the heritage of their teams, the talent they had and, most importantly, the money spent by the unsuspecting public who support the hometown pros. I’m glad I don’t buy tickets to see them play. The cost is getting outrageous for anybody. And if they “stink” or “choke,” then I can always turn on another TV channel and watch some good old-fashioned reruns.
I believe Nutting is using the Pirates for tax write-offs for his other businesses. The Pirates start each year like a house on fire, then they choke big time for all to see. Nutting should go!
The Steelers couldn’t coach a pee-wee football team to victory. I don’t care if a head coach has 20 or more .500 seasons. If you can’t win a playoff game, you should be gone. That won’t happen in Pittsburgh because Rooney isn’t about the game, only money.
And I think Rooney is afraid to fire Mike Tomlin because of what his father pushed for, minority hiring of head coaches. With the record Tomlin has, any nonminority coach would be fired. Business is business.
The new motto for the Steelers should be “Choke City of Chumps” as long as Tomlin is running the show.
