A woman died after a one-vehicle crash on Route 30 Thursday morning and a man was hurt, according to state police.

Barbara Kravits, 83, of Ligonier, died at a hospital, according to Trooper Steve Limani.

The eastbound highway was closed in Unity and Ligonier Townships for several hours after the 10 a.m. crash near Kingston Dam.

Limani said a Mercedes SUV being driven by Eugene Kravits went off the highway, hit a tree and rolled over. They were extricated by firefighters and taken to a hospital for treatment. Limani said the driver may have had a medical emergency just before the crash.

The Kravitses are known in the community as longtime owners of Truffles Antiquities along Route 30 in nearby Laughlintown.

A stretch of the eastbound highway between the intersections with Routes 982 and 259 was reopened around 3 p.m., according to 511PA.
