Around 2,500 people spent their Saturday enjoying live music, food trucks and countless cups of green beer at the Pittsburgh Brewing Co. complex in East Deer, making it far and away the largest St. Patrick’s Day festival in the Alle-Kiski Valley.

The event, dubbed the Irish City Celebration, lasted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and included a mid-morning parade from East Deer Memorial Park to the brewery. Spectators were treated to fistfuls of candy and Pittsburgh Brewing Co. swag.

Also on tap Saturday: A golf simulator, tattoo artists, a photo booth, karaoke and a cigar bar. And while that may seem like a decent array of activities for only the festival’s second year, to event coordinator Rebecca McCormick, it’s just the beginning.

“We’re going to keep adding to it every year,” McCormick said.

General admission tickets, which went for $15 each, sold out on Monday. The event was restricted to ages 21 and up.

Even in the celebration’s waning hours, crowds were still milling about the complex to the sound of local rock cover band Heidi and the Hellcats.

“The crowds are awesome,” McCormick said. “Knock on wood — we have no trouble.”
