Police say man shot into South Oakland residence
A Pittsburgh man is facing criminal charges after police say he shot into a residence in South Oakland on Tuesday night.
According to a criminal complaint, Pittsburgh police responded around 9:15 p.m. to the 50 block of Bates Street for a call of shots fired. Officers spoke with two people at the scene who said that Sean Brown, 28, was knocking on their door and refused to leave despite their requests.
Brown stayed outside, peered through windows and attempted to get inside through a window, the complaint said. Police said the occupants said he fired multiple rounds from a pistol into the side of the house and ran away.
Neither occupant of the apartment was hit by gunfire and they declined medical attention, according to the complaint.
Charges against Brown identified in the complaint include discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, reckless endangerment, possessing an instrument of crime, loitering, criminal mischief, simple assault and aggravated assault.
The incident triggered a “large police presence,” according to University of Pittsburgh police. A portion of Bates Street, and the ramp from Parkway East toward Oakland, closed for about two hours Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning.
Hershey movie to film in Pittsburgh region
A live-action movie telling the story behind the Hershey chocolate company will film some scenes in the Pittsburgh region this year, according to the Pittsburgh Film Office.
Production for “Hershey” is slated to begin in May, according to a Facebook post from the film office. The movie is targeting a 2026 release.
The movie will show how Milton Hershey, played by Finn Wittrock, and his wife, Kitty (Alexandra Daddario), built a candy empire and philanthropic legacy.
It is unclear when filming in the city will take place.
