Max’s Pittsburgh-set ER drama “The Pitt” reaches its first-season finale tonight at 9 as the series wraps the extended shift of Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) and his colleagues who work in the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center emergency department.

Set during the 10-11 p.m. hour, the episode will have to address:

• How Dr. Robby wraps his overlong shift, which includes a rousing speech to the staff as Robby says, “This place will break your heart, but it is also full of miracles, and that is a testament to all of you coming together to do what we do best.” But Robby also visits the PTMC rooftop in an echo back to a scene from the first episode.

• How will the measles case resolve? So far, a kid’s lefty, anti-vaccine parents are refusing treatment for measles that would save his life.

• Will nurse Dana (Katherine LaNasa) carry through on her threat to quit after being assaulted by a patient?

• What’s going on with Langdon (Patrick Ball), who returned to work during the mass casualty event after Robby sent Langdon home when Robby discovered Langdon was stealing drugs?

• Watch for Iron City beer to make a cameo in a scene filmed in a park near Allegheny General Hospital last September.

The first season of “The Pitt” has been a rousing success for Max, especially when it comes to critical acclaim — and applause from many medical professionals — and breaking through the zeitgeist to become one of the buzziest series of 2025. Warner Bros. will pitch the show for Emmy consideration and it seems sure to land some Emmy nominations, including for best drama and for Wyle for lead actor.

“The Pitt” will begin filming its second season in June in Burbank, Calif., with plans to return for a week of filming in Pittsburgh in September. The new season will begin streaming in January 2026.
