The Sheetz location in Buffalo Township is set to reopen April 23, according to township Supervisor Michael Oehling Jr.

The gas station and convenience store where Route 356 and Monroe Road meet closed in October to be torn down and rebuilt.

Sheetz did not return requests for comment.

Company spokesperson Nick Ruffner previously told TribLive the goal is to create a “restaurant-style experience,” with self-service kiosks, a drive-thru and additional indoor and outdoor seating.

The car wash was being rebuilt, as well.

The store has grown to about 6,100 square feet and is now flanked by only five double-sided fuel stations, down from seven.

Employees were offered other jobs at the company in the interim.

Sheetz has remodeled several locations in Western Pennsylvania in recent years, including one in Greensburg and another in New Stanton.

Only a few local towns boast Sheetz stores with a drive-thru, among them Harrison and Plum.

This story has been updated with a new opening date. In the earlier version, the township said the store would open April 24.
