A Derry Township man is behind bars after state police said he fired a shotgun through a wall at his home Sunday night, missing a woman on the other side by a few feet.

Police said the woman reported debris and drywall fell onto her, according to court papers. She escaped the house unharmed.

Randy L. Bleehash, 51, is charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and related offenses. Police were called to the home on Adam Lane, just off Route 982 between Derry Borough and New Derry, around 9:45 p.m.

Bleehash refused to come outside for more than an hour until troopers went in and arrested him, according to court papers. A shotgun and a box of shells were found inside along with a hole in the living room wall. He was taken to Independence Health Latrobe Hospital for treatment of a head wound that police said happened before they got inside.

After being released, Bleehash told police the gun accidentally fired and he didn’t intend to hurt the woman, according to court papers. He was denied bond and was being held at the Westmoreland County Prison. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A preliminary hearing is set for May 7.
