The Allegheny County Elections Division on Monday announced the first batch of mail-in ballots are being sent to voters ahead of the May primary.
Voters who requested mail-in ballots can expect them to arrive in the coming days, county officials said.
Ahead of the May 20 primary, county officials announced various options for voters to cast their ballots.
People can apply for mail-in ballots through May 13.
The County Office Building will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. for over-the-counter voting and ballot returns.
On May 10 and 11, voters can visit satellite offices for over-the-counter voting, where they can request a mail-in ballot, complete it and return it in one place. From 9 a.m.-5 p.m. that weekend, satellite locations will be open at CCAC Homewood, North Park Ice Rink, South Park Ice Rink and the County Office Building lobby at the Forbes Avenue entrance.
The county also is offering ballot return sites, where voters can return mail-in or absentee ballots directly to a county employee in-person. Ballot return sites will be open May 16 and 19 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. and May 17 and 18 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the following locations:

• Avalon Public Library
• Boyce Park Four Seasons Lodge
• Carnegie Library Squirrel Hill
• CCAC Homewood
• County Office Building Lobby at the Ross Street entrance
• Dormont Pool
• Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank
• North Park Ice Rink
• South Park Ice Rink
The deadline to register to vote is May 5.
Officials urged people planning to vote in person to check their polling place online ahead of the primary.
Polls are open on election day from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Anyone in line by 8 p.m. will be able to vote.
