Newly signed Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has the best odds among current and former professional sports stars to become the next president of the United States, according to betonline.ag. At 500-to-1, he shares the same odds as LeBron James, Peyton Manning, Steve Garvey and Tom Brady.
Oddsmakers give Rodgers a better shot of leading the Steelers to a Super Bowl championship in the upcoming season, and that’s a long shot at 45-to-1 (+4500), according to BetMGM. Those odds didn’t budge after Rodgers signed a one-year, $13.65 million deal with the Steelers last week.
It’s not the first time Rodgers’ name has been linked to politics.
During last year’s presidential campaign, former independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said Rodgers and former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura were on his short list of candidates for a running mate. Rodgers has shared Kennedy’s distrust of vaccine mandates and, like Kennedy, has been a fixture on anti-establishment podcasts, The Associated Press reported at the time.
Kennedy suspended his campaign in August and is now serving as secretary of health and human services in President Trump’s administration.
Vice President JD Vance, a Republican, has the best odds of becoming the next president at 5-to-2, according to betonline.ag.
He’s followed by Trump (8-to-1), who under the 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution is prohibited from serving a third term but has both fueled and dismissed speculation that he could seek another term in 2028.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom, whose state sued the Trump administration this week for deploying the National Guard and Marines to Los Angeles in response to protests over immigration raids there, has the third-best odds at 9-to-1.
Other notable contenders with Pennsylvania ties include Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro (14-to-1); billionaire businessman Mark Cuban (50-to-1), a Mt. Lebanon native; U.S. Sen. John Fetterman, D-Braddock (65-to-1); and Berks County native Taylor Swift (500-to-1).
