Police responding to East McKeesport crash discover driver was fatally shot

Police are investigating after a man with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest drove into parked vehicles Thursday night in East McKeesport.

Authorities were notified at 11:48 p.m. of a crash in the 500 block of Pittsburgh Street near Park Avenue.

First responders found a vehicle had crashed into parked cars at Pittsburgh Street and Walnut Alley.

Inside the car that had wrecked, first responders found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. The man, who officials identified as Keith Pelmon III, 20, of Penn Hills, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary information indicates the shooting happened at the intersection of Park Avenue and Pittsburgh Street, Allegheny County police said. The vehicle then seemed to have traveled Walnut Alley and Pittsburgh Street, where it crashed into the parked vehicles.

Detectives are investigating.
