The Pittsburgh Pirates traded right-handed reliever Hunter Stratton to the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday for a minor-league outfielder and cash considerations.

Stratton was designated for assignment Thursday, when the Pirates signed lefty reliever Genesis Cabrera.

A 2017 16th-round draft pick, the 28-year-old Stratton was 2-1 with a 4.30 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 52 1/3 innings over 47 appearances in parts of three seasons with the Pirates. He suffered a torn patellar tendon in his left knee last August but recovered to return to the majors this season.

Stratton allowed seven earned runs on 10 hits and two walks with one strikeout in 2 2/3 innings over three appearances this season with the Pirates. He fared better at Triple-A Indianapolis, where he had a 3.65 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with 24 strikeouts and eight walks in 21 games.

The Pirates acquired 22-year-old outfielder Titus Dumitru, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound right-handed hitter. Dumitru was batting .231/.310/.319 with nine doubles, two triples, three home runs and 36 RBIs in 64 games this season at High-A Rome. He had 71 strikeouts and 26 walks.

A 2024 16th-round pick out of New Mexico State, Dumitru batted .217/.324/.337 with six doubles, one triple, one home run and 11 RBIs in 27 games at Low-A Augusta last year.

The Pirates also announced that right-handed reliever Colin Holderman had his rehabilitation assignment transferred from Low-A Bradenton to Indianapolis. The Indians also announced the release of righty reliever Peter Strzelecki, who was 2-2 with a 9.90 ERA and 1.85 WHIP with 15 strikeouts and 12 walks in 16 innings over 20 appearances.
