U.S. marshals were joined by Jeannette and state police Wednesday evening in arresting a man who had violated his parole, federal officials said.

City and state police were called to assist U.S. marshals shortly after 6 p.m. during a brief standoff at a home near the intersection of Penn Avenue and 13th Street in Jeannette, according to U.S. Marshal Service Supervising Deputy Jeremy Delano.

“We had information that he was in the house, and initially we thought he might be barricaded,” Delano said. “State police SWAT was called when we got a report that he was armed.”

Delano did not identify the man marshals were after but said he was taken into custody and transported from the scene around 7:30 p.m.

“It’s what we expect with parole violators — they run, they hide, they fight,” Delano said.
