The Jeannette EMS bankruptcy case was closed this month and about $416,000 in unsecured claims were not paid, according to a final report.

Those unsecured claims included $46,594 the agency said it owed to cash advance lender Cloudfund LLC, $32,087 to Spartan Business Solutions and $10,428 to WEX, Inc., a financial technology provider, according to the report.

The ambulance provider shut down abruptly July 3, 2023, after 63 years in business with officials citing insufficient funding and low insurance reimbursement.

Jeannette EMS filed to liquidate its holdings under Chapter 7 of the bankruptcy code two months later.

It sold two SUVs and two ambulances, which, in addition to a donation, left $25,500 to distribute in the bankruptcy. Of that, $15,625 was distributed to three unsecured creditors that were seeking $397,600.

The rest was directed to administrative expenses related to the case. No secured creditors, those who have property that can be seized, were paid, according to the report. The former station building on South Sixth Street previously was removed from the bankruptcy estate.

KeyBank filed a $340,000 judgement and mortgage foreclosure action in Westmoreland County civil court shortly after the agency closed.

Mutual Aid EMS now covers Jeannette.
