Urgent care facilities in Harrison and Tarentum, less than 2 miles apart, will remain open despite each being rebranded to UPMC-GoHealth.

The former UPMC Urgent Care in Harrison and MedExpress in Tarentum are not expected to consolidate, according to UPMC Senior Director of Public Relations Allison Hydzik.

The facilities offer on-demand care, such as treatment for flu, fractures, bites, cuts and other conditions.

The rebranding was part of a summer partnership of UPMC and GoHealth Urgent Care that included 81 sites across the state and into West Virginia.

“There are no more MedExpress locations locally,” Hydzik said.

In Pennsylvania, the UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care network incorporates former MedExpress, UPMC Urgent Care and UPMC Express Care locations. In West Virginia, all former MedExpress locations are now UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care centers.

Each of the buildings received new signs and minor interior renovations that included some new technology. For example, patients can access a mobile check-in service in an effort to reduce wait times, Hydzik said.

Dr. Donald Yealy, chief medical officer and chair of emergency medicine at UPMC, said in a release that the health system is pleased with the partnership.

It allows patients to be served with convenient, flexible access to high-quality health care when and where they need it, Yealy said.

Patients are also able to access some vaccines, including the flu shot, as well as lab testing for mononucleosis, strep throat and other common diseases.

The centers accept most major insurance, including UPMC Health Plan, Highmark, Geisinger, Medicare and Medicaid, and provide self-pay options.
