Iron City Distilling is pairing with a local candymaker for a sweet whiskey tasting event this month.

Iron City Distilling is part of the Pittsburgh Brewing Co. compound off of Freeport Road in the Creighton section of East Deer.

Here’s the lineup:

• On Saturday, Oct. 11, the distillery and Arnold’s own Valos Chocolates are teaming up to host a whiskey and chocolate pairing in the distillery’s lounge.

During the event, guests will have the opportunity to taste Iron City’s Bridge Batch Bourbon, which is a blend of straight bourbon whiskeys that combines the distillery’s two-year-old Bessemer Bourbon with a seven-year-old bourbon crafted by their master distiller at one of his former distilleries.

This is the first chance to taste and purchase whiskey made at the distillery.

Seating is first-come, first-served, with options like couches and bar stools while supplies last.

A ticket also includes entry into the Music On The Mezz event that evening. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to a local charity.

• On Wednesday, Oct. 15, Scott Blasey lead vocalist of the Pittsburgh-area rock band The Clarks will be headlining that night’s Music on the Mezz event.

Hosted in the distillery’s lounge, Music on the Mezz is a live acoustic concert series featuring local artists and whiskey cocktails.

Austin Keeton — one of Iron City’s distillers — will be opening the night for Blasey.

• On Saturday, Oct. 18, Iron City will be combining forces with other local distilleries for their In Good Spirits event.

Folks will be able to sample products from local distilleries such as Liberty Pole, Wigle, Love Kate, Lawrenceville Distilling, 7th Ward Spirits, West Overton and Iron City Distilling.

For $20, attendees can listen to live music, access food trucks and cigars. Author Lew Bryson will also host a signing table.

VIP tickets are available for purchase for $45. Starting at 3 p.m., a panel discussion and guided tasting featuring Bryson, whiskey historian Sam Komlenic and Iron City’s master distiller Matt Strickland.
