Bidding has started for 118 pieces of surplus equipment Hempfield is hoping to unload.
The online auction is underway, and several items already have more than a dozen bids.
The auction, being conducted by Anderson Auctioneers, will end Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. Payment and pickup for winning bidders will be Friday, Oct. 17.
Items up for sale include trucks, firefighting equipment, traffic signals, kitchen appliances, chairs and reflector lamps. The inventory is available at bandersonauctions.hibid.com.
Township supervisors approved the auction proposal in August.
The township typically uses Municibid, an online auction site that works with governments and communities across the country. Municibid is handy to unload a couple pieces of surplus equipment, but a large auction would be cumbersome for township staff to manage, officials have said.
The auction inventory list includes items mostly from the parks and public works departments. Anderson Auctioneers will keep 10% of the sale price.
