Plum Police say they soon plan to hire four new patrol officers.

Department spokesman Det. Joe Little said the department is hiring in anticipation of retirements to bring the force up to its “typical compliment of officers.”

The borough’s website states the department has 29 officers, including the chief and detectives.

The application deadline is set for Nov. 19.

Applicants will have to take a physical agility test and written exam on Nov. 22.

“We hope to hire enthusiastic people that will represent and protect our community with pride, professionalism and dedication,” Little said via email.

The annual base salary for a full-time officer is $85,064 for 2026.

Plum Mayor Harry Schlegel, who serves as chief administrator of the department, said Plum PD had already received more than a dozen applications.

“We look for the best we can get,” he said.

Little said the department would look to hire the patrolmen as soon as possible after the various stages of the hiring process are completed.

Applicants can apply at the borough’s HR site or find more information on the department’s Facebook page.
