O’Hara council recently gave residents a peek at the roads to be targeted in this year’s summer paving program.

Recommended for milling and resurfacing were Cornwall, Sunridge and Falconhurst drives, and Frick and Worthington roads.

Alternates include Sigma, Gamma and Zeta drives in RIDC Park, along with chip sealing of Field Club Road from Powers Run to the Fox Chapel line.

Council approved a motion to bid the road work jointly with Fox Chapel, as it has for years, to capitalize on lower prices.

In other news, new vehicles will be purchased for the public works and police departments this year.

Council approved the purchase of a 2019 Ford F-550, 4 X 4 Dump truck with plow and spreader. Cost is $61,150, which includes the trade-in of a 2012 Ford F-550.

Members also greenlit the purchase of two 2019 Ford utility vehicles.

Manager Julie Jakubec said purchasing the vehicles this year will allow for an easy transfer of existing police equipment before an expected redesign of the Interceptors in 2020.

The cost of the two vehicles is $59,090, less than the trade-in values of two 2017 Ford Interceptors, which has not yet been provided.
