Harrisburg children’s author to visit Greensburg

Children’s author Floyd Stokes will visit the Greensburg Barnes & Noble store Tuesday evening to read and sign his books.

A resident of Harrisburg. Stokes has written more than 20 books including “Say Ahh! The Teeth Book,” “Popcorn Popcorn,” “Bullying is Bad,” “AJ The Rooster,” “We Are Money Smart” and “Johnny’s Lucky Day.”

His 6 p.m. visit is sponsored by the Westmoreland Community Federal Credit Union.

Stokes is the founder of The American Literacy Corporation, a nonprofit that implements programs to promote the importance of reading for students up to the fifth grade.

He has been recognized with a James Patterson PageTurner Award.

An Army veteran and native of Mound Bayou, Miss., he received an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Central Penn College in 2009.

He has read to more than 185,000 children.
