Pittsburgh-area native Billy Gardell was among the winners on Saturday, when Maximum Security was disqualified from the Kentucky Derby, giving Country House the crown.

Gardell posted a photo to Twitter of his winning tickets with the caption, “How sweet it is! #KentuckyDerby2019 #lovealongshot”

Gardell made $20 and $10 bets on Country House, which went off with 65-1 odds. His winnings totaled about $1,950.

The bets were placed at the Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort in New Cumberland, W.Va. a few hours before the race. According to his tour schedule he was performing at the casino that night.

Gardell, who stared in the CBS sitcom “Mike & Molly” until 2016, was born in Swissvale and continues to perform comedy. He also hosts the syndicated game show “Monopoly Millionaires’ Club.”

Last November, Gardell played two nights at the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts in Pittsburgh.

He donated $10,000 from those shows to Tree of Life Congregation.
