Local residents sit on a hillside in front of a large outdoor screen for the Delmont Recreation Board’s “Movies in the Park” event in 2016. This year’s series will kick off with a showing of “The Goonies.”

A classic adventure comedy and the latest entry in a spooky kids’ franchise are on the slate for this summer’s “Movies in the Park” in Delmont’s Newhouse Park.

Organized by the borough’s recreation board, “Movies in the Park” will kick off June 14 with “The Goonies.” The rain date will be June 15.

Movies will begin at dusk. A concession stand will be open selling drinks, popcorn and candy.

Visit the Delmont Recreation page on Facebook for additional updates.

The park is on Newhouse Park Road, off of Stotler Road.

Other movies scheduled for this summer include “A Wrinkle in Time” and “Hotel Transylvania 3.”
