Christmas really is about miracles.
The four stars of the hit 1980s comedy series “The Facts of Life” will be reuniting in a new holiday movie on Lifetime.
“You Light Up My Christmas” is set to premiere at 8 p.m. Dec. 1 on the network — and Lisa Whelchel, Mindy Cohn, Kim Fields and Nancy McKeon will all be there.
Fields, who stars in the movie and is serving as executive producer, told People that she contacted her former castmates and they were eager to get back together.
“We’re sisters. We have a ball when we get to hang out personally and holidays are about family, memories and fun,” Fields said in a statement. “So, when the opportunity came up to combine all of that with You Light Up My Christmas, I invited Lisa, Mindy, and Nancy to make some fun, Christmas cameos and was thrilled they all enthusiastically jumped on board.
“It’s been amazing to work together again and have the ladies’ input on their characters from their wardrobe to names, as well as provide fun inside jokes for fans,” Fields told the magazine.
Lifetime
In a description on the Lifetime website, the story — which was “inspired by true events” — revolves around a woman, Emma (Kim Fields), who comes back to her hometown just two weeks before the holidays to her family’s Christmas Light Factory. “However upon Emma’s return, she discovers the lights have gone dim in the once festive town, prompting her to reconnect with an old flame to set their hearts and the town ablaze with light again.”
“Facts of Life” fans should delight in a special nod to the girls’ former co-star.
“I also had the production name the ice-skating rink in the movie after our dear friend, Charlotte Rae, who passed away last year (and played Edna Garrett on both ‘The Facts of Life’ and ‘Diff’rent Strokes’).”
The movie is part of Lifetime’s “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” programming.
“We truly are a family so it was great to work together on something new,” Fields said.
