‘Game of Thrones’ fans can win Iron Throne through American Red Cross blood donation

“Game of Thrones” fans are a loyal lot, both anticipating and dreading the newest — and final — season, starting April 14 on HBO.
Are you so dedicated you believe you have the right to sit on the Iron Throne?
Are you willing to show that dedication by shedding some blood in honor of your favorite show?
In an effort to encourage donations during April, National Volunteer Month, the American Red Cross and HBO’s “Game of Thrones” are partnering to award one lucky blood donor a full-size Iron Throne.
Chances to win will be given to those who donate by April 30.
Those who roll up their sleeves and donate between April 11-30 will receive a commemorative “Bleed For The Throne” poster, while supplies last.
While donors of all blood types are needed, there currently is a severe shortage of type O donations. Platelets also are needed, according to a Red Cross news release.
Volunteer donors are the only source of blood products for those in need of transfusions, and #ForTheThrone is one way of reaching out to a large pool, so to speak, of potential bleeders — er, donors.
Alas, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) will not be on hand to make the process more palatable.
But here’s your chance to make them proud, and maybe reap as a reward an Iron Throne or bloody good poster to call your own.
Make an appointment, stat.
