Briana Smith started on the job last week at KDKA-TV, taking over weekend morning anchor duties. She’ll also report some weekdays and serve as a fill-in anchor as needed.

She takes the place of Lisa Washington, who left KDKA in November to become a weeknight evening anchor at WNEP-TV in Scranton.

Smith joined the staff at KDKA from Spectrum News in Syracuse. She’s a Hofstra University grad (bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism).

In addition to Smith, KDKA added two more freelance general assignment reporters in recent months.

Bryant Reed previously worked at WECT-TV in Wilmington, N.C. A Charlotte, N.C., native and graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Reed has family in Western Pennsylvania and participated in Pitt basketball camps with Coach Jamie Dixon.

Jessica Guay joined KDKA in February from WJAC-TV in Johnstown where she was a morning anchor and reporter. She’s also worked at WCHS-TV in Charleston, W.Va., and WTOV-TV in Steubenville, Ohio. A native of Hockessin, Del., Guay graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in broadcast journalism.
