Social distancing guidelines are making live music experiences difficult … but not impossible.
To abide by venue restrictions, bands have been hitting the stage at drive-in movie theaters with cars arranged for enough space to enjoy the show.
The Starlight Drive-In in Butler seems to be leading the way in Western Pennsylvania, with six concerts and a stand-up comedian scheduled in the coming months.
July 26: Reggae/funk act Tropidelic with Stationary Pebbles
Aug 13: The Pavement Rave Series featuring Subtronics, BUKU, Level Up, Kliptic, B2B and Layz
Aug. 15: Comedian Bert Kreischer
Aug. 16: Country musician Chase Rice
Aug. 21: English rockers The Struts with Nick Perri
Aug. 22: Night Ranger
Aug. 29: Staind singer Aaron Lewis with Ira Dean
The Starlight’s already hosted a charity concert, featuring the Clarks, Gene the Werewolf and the Hawkeyes, on June 27.
Bands like Local H and TobyMac have made national news for their early drive-in concerts.
And if concerts aren’t enough, one local drive-in even hosted a professional wrestling card. The International Wrestling Cartel hosted a daylight show earlier this month at the Brownsville Drive-In.
