South Fayette will become the new regional home for iHeartMedia and a popular rock station.

The company, which includes WDVE, announced it is moving its Pittsburgh area headquarters from 200 Fleet Street in Green Tree to Beacon I, an 80,000-square-foot office building in the township.

“We’re really excited about them choosing South Fayette as their location, and we look forward to working with them and getting South Fayette’s name on the map,” township commissioners President Gwen Rodi said on April 20.

Officials from Burns Scalo Real Estate, which owns the office building, recently released a statement about the move.

“The current activity taking place is what the community has been waiting for, for a long time,” said BSRE CEO Jim Scalo. “South Fayette is no longer a pass-through along I-79, it is the premier destination south of Pittsburgh.”

iHeartMedia is expected to use about 9,400-square-foot of space on the first floor of Beacon 1. It makes the Texas-based business the latest tenant of the four-story $16 million office building at 44 Abele Road in Abele Business Park.

WDVE will also be leaving its longtime Fleet Street home as part of the deal.

The radio station has been around for more than five decades and had brought back its Memorial Day 500 countdown in 2019 as part of its 50th anniversary.

Officials at WDVE could not be reached for comment.

David Harris and Tim Goetz of Cushman & Wakefield represented iHeartMedia in the deal. It will begin its build-out of the space this month and plans to open the doors to its new office in the third quarter of 2021.

RSRE officials also announced they are developing The Piazza, a 49,000-square-foot restaurant and entertainment destination at the entrance to Abele Business Park.
