A new Chappell Roan-inspired comic book includes the work of Pittsburgh artist Sorah Suhng featured on the front cover.

The latest installment in the FAME series by TidalWave Comics, which “celebrates the stories of influential personalities,” “FAME: Chappell Roan” spotlights Roan’s journey to music stardom in a 22-page format.

The book is authored by Michael Frizell, who is from Roan’s hometown of Spingfield, Missouri, and illustrated by Lucy Fidelis. It is available in digital and print formats, including softcover with the cover art by Suhng and a special hardcover edition.

“Her story is one of bravery, transformation, and artistic risk,” Frizell said. “She’s rewriting what pop stardom looks like, and I hope readers are as inspired by her journey as I was while crafting it.”

Highlighting key moments in Roan’s trajectory, the book includes early performances and viral hits, along with her acclaimed debut album “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” and her growing influence as a queer artist.

Suhng is a comic book artist with credits for Archie Comics, Coffin Comics, Image Comics and Marvel Comics.

“If you’re not challenging yourself, you will get bored,” she said of her creative process in the announcement.

Best known for her depictions of fierce and sensual figures, Suhng is the creator of Karnal Sin — from the Karnal Confessions series — and the Aurora graphic novel series. Her career in comics began in 2007, with a full-time focus on illustration starting in 2016.

Previous artists highlighted by the “FAME” comic book series include Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Lil Nas X, Drake and Selena Gomez.

“The success of this series proves that sequential storytelling appeals to a broader audience than just fans of superheroes,” said TidalWave publisher Darren G. Davis. “With our bio comics, we strive to offer balanced, well-researched insights into the lives of beloved celebrities, connecting with readers seeking something different.”
