Pittsburgh indie rock band Pitter Patter are set to release their first EP, “Kraken At The Seams,” on Jan. 17 including a release show that same night.

“We are ecstatic to share it with everyone,” singer/guitarist Seth Berkin said. “In our view, this six-song project is a big step up for us, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone. This EP is less on the indie-side and leans more into our interest in rock and emo music. We feel that the EP captures who we are well, and provides a little bit of everything we do as a band musically and lyrically.”

Berkin filled TribLive in on what else we should know about Pitter Patter:

Band: Pitter Patter

Band members: Seth Berkin (lead vocals, guitar); Dave Connuck (bass, backup vocals); Benji Cohen (guitar); Brian Ihejurobi (drums)

Founded: Technically in 2021 but with a different roster and we didn’t start playing live until 2022.

Origin of band’s name: Pitter Patter just has such a nice ring to it. We threw so many band names around early on, and it seemed to be the catchiest one that wasn’t taken. The band name is something we take great pride in and also fits in very well to our Pittsburgh roots. The band name is fun to say, easy to remember, is playful and silly matching our brand and energy, it is very conducive to a good pun which we are a huge fan of, and we can abbreviate it to PP which is just an added bonus.

For fans of: The Front Bottoms, Oso Oso, Cavetown, The Strokes, Declan McKenna, The Backseat Lovers, Car Seat Headrest, Wallows, Grouplove, Cage The Elephant, Modest Mouse

Influences: Most of the bands listed above, but between the four of us we listen to so many different kinds of music and from song to song we try to differentiate between genres. Each of us have overlap in our taste (indie rock mainly) but individually our music tastes are fairly unique. This lends itself well to songwriting, as we each bring different ideas to the table because of our differing listening preferences. Overall it is a mix of indie rock, indie pop, and emo music.

Releases: Debut album “Naturally Selected” (2023) features 12 songs including “Treehouse,” “Rearranging” and “Dream Catcher”; EP “Kraken At The Seams” (2025) includes six songs including “Oh? Possum!,” “Bandages,” “Laundry” and “The Dive”

Next shows: Our EP release show is on Jan. 17 at Bottlerocket Social Hall with 9FiftySeven, I Swallow Ghosts and Tilt Contrls. We are planning a handful of shows in the coming months as well, so stay tuned as we expect to be busy throughout the rest of the winter/spring.

How to find them: Our Instagram (@pitterpatter.pgh) is definitely the best way to keep track of all things Pitter Patter. You can also follow us on Twitter/X (@pitterpatterpgh) in addition to finding us on all streaming platforms.

Three other Pittsburgh bands to check out: This is so tough because the Pittsburgh music scene is incredible and there are so many more than three bands that we would recommend. Unfortunately, you asked for three so I’ll say Moontown, Heading North and Clay Coast. These three are all phenomenal groups and we are good friends with them, but seriously the Pittsburgh music scene has tons of unbelievably talented musicians and we could easily list a good 30-40 bands here.

Favorite pizza shop: This is a topic I am extremely passionate about. I am from New Jersey originally and can confidently say that pizza in Pittsburgh is fairly mid. That being said, I have to go with Benny Fiero’s in South Side.
