Pittsburgh local band spotlight: Tony From Bowling
Two weeks after dropping their debut album, “Appear,” psych rockers Tony From Bowling will hold a tape release show on Feb. 22 at BrilloBox in Bloomfield.
”We recorded it ourselves with the help of Giovanni Orsini, mixed by Warren Pryde, and mastered by Ryan Killen,” guitarist Rob Potesta said. “Michi Tapes is doing cassettes and other visual things with us, too. He’s helped us out a lot.”
Potesta filled TribLive in on what else we should know about Tony From Bowling:
Band: Tony From Bowling
Band members: Rob Potesta (guitar/vocals), Ryan Hartman (guitar), Max Bridges (drums), Morgan Kashon (bass)
Founding story: Three quarters of the band formed in college at WVU around six years ago. I met Max and Morgan through a mutual friend and we just started jamming and playing house parties. We’ve lived here for about a year now; once Ryan joined we moved (he’s from Pittsburgh). We met Ryan years ago playing shows with his other band.
Origin of band’s name: “Tony” is who the songs are about. And it references “Bowling” the sport, not any place.
