With most live music venues shut down because of the coronavirus pandemic, bands have had to get creative to survive. Shows at drive-in movie theaters, concerts on livestreams and expanded merchandise lines have helped some musicians.

Pittsburgh-based Anti-Flag launched its “No Borders. No Nation” Patreon account with different membership tiers last week. Patreon, for those who don’t know, is a membership platform that connects artists and supporters, allowing the creators to get financial support.

A $5 monthly tier gives access to monthly demos, a podcast and an enamel pin every two months. The $20 monthly package includes the $5 tier benefits, as well as a patch, keychain, a shirt, personalized mail and more.

The political punk rockers sold out of their highest “People United” tier on the first day. For $35 a month, supporters get an exclusive 7-inch vinyl (limited to 100) about every three months, along with discounts, invites to sound check and virtual hangouts, as well as the swag from other tiers.

The band is also celebrating several album anniversaries this year: the 25th anniversary of “Die For the Government,” the 20th anniversary of “Underground Network” and the 15th anniversary of “For Blood and Empire.”

Anti-Flag is scheduled to play some European dates this summer with several U.S. dates lined up for the fall.
