Greater Latrobe students stage Seussian fable of friendship
A host of Dr. Seuss characters will tread the boards in “Seussical JR.,” the spring musical from the Greater Latrobe Junior High theater program, now in its 17th season.
Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat (Ben Federico) narrates the story of Horton the Elephant (Cameron Baker) to a young girl named Jo-Jo (Abigail Wolfgang).
Horton has discovered a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, whom he must protect as he also guards an abandoned egg.
Horton’s efforts bring in him contact with many fantastical Seussian creatures, in a tale that demonstrates the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community.
The cast comprises 64 students from the 7th and 8th grades.
“Seussical JR.” will be presented at 7 p.m. April 12-13 and 2 p.m. April 14 in the auditorium at Greater Latrobe Senior High School, 131 High School Road, Unity.
Tickets are $7, or $5 for students and children.
