Pittsburgh actress to play Wendy in ‘Peter Pan’ at the Benedum

Pittsburgh CLO’s “Peter Pan” comes to the Benedum Center in Downtown Pittsburgh July 12-21.

Lori Eve Marinacci’s career is taking flight, literally.

The Bridgeville native who lives in New York has been cast at Wendy Darling in Pittsburgh CLO’s “Peter Pan,” which comes to the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh July 12-21.

“I am so excited to fly,” she told the Tribune-Review. “We have the best fly guy. He knows what he is doing. He decides the paths for us to go. And the kids who come to the show will wish they could fly.”

She says doing a children’s show is so much fun because the actors and actresses feed off the energy of the little ones in the audience. And she adds that “Peter Pan” is one of those classics that transcend time.

Her character is a protagonist.

Marinacci was in Broadway’s “School of Rock” and “Hairspray.”

Marinacci has a passion for acting and says being live on stage is a completely different experience than a show that is recorded because you can’t edit out a mistake.

“When you do live theater, every show is unique every night, and it is brand new every time because the audience is never the same,” she says. She loves working in her hometown. “I try to find as much work as I can here.”

Tony-award nominated actress Jenn Colella will play Peter Pan and Charles Shaughnessy is Captain Hook.

“Peter Pan” is described as “with a little pixie dust, Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick Tinkerbell take the Darling children on the adventure of a lifetime, complete with a ticking crocodile, a fierce tribe of Lost Boys, a band of bungling pirates and, of course, the villainous Captain Hook.”

It features iconic songs such as “I’m Flying,” “I’ve Gotta Crow” and “Never Never Land.” “Peter Pan” premiered at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco on July 19, 1954.
