The Banana Republic store on Walnut Street in Shadyside is set to close after being open for more than 30 years.

Two signs posted in the store’s windows say “We’re Closing: March 2025.” A specific date has not been announced.

The two-story store is located at 5542 Walnut St., at the corner with Ivy Street. Employees at the location were unable to comment on the closure on Wednesday.

About two blocks away on Walnut Street, the Gap clothing store closed in March 2024. The Shadyside Apple Store is moving into the former Gap space.

Athleta, the athleisure chain, closed its store on Walnut Street in January 2024. That space was taken over by Amazing Books and Records, a secondhand store with another location in Squirrel Hill.

The Gap, Inc. owns both Banana Republic and Athleta.

The closest Banana Republic store is in Ross Park Mall. Pittsburgh Tanger Outlets has a Banana Republic Factory Store.
