Calvary Family Fun Fest

Calvary Baptist Church, 4765 S. Pioneer Road, Hampton, will host its annual Family Fun Fest, a free event for all ages, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 30. Featured will be food, games, prizes, a bounce house, dunking booth, face painting, pony rides and more.

McCandless construction

Work is underway on the Blazier Drive culvert. The project entails new concrete lining and rehabilitation of the three culverts that run under the road. This work will be done completely under the road and will not disturb the actual road surface itself. Blazier Drive will remain open throughout the work, however there will be periodic delays when materials are being delivered to the site or debris is being removed. Contractors will work from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. most days. Construction is expected to last 120 days.

Hampton Presbyterian car show

Hampton Presbyterian Church will host a car cruise from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 30. Vintage vehicles will be on display, with a concession stand and featuring music by DJ Denny Dutko. All makes and models are welcome.

The church is at 2942 E. Hardies Road in Hampton. For more information, email hamptonpresoutreach@gmail.com, call the church office at 724-443-3201 or visit www.hamptonpresbyterian.net.

McCandless dumpsters removed

Due to ongoing issues, the cardboard recycling dumpsters behind Town Hall have been removed temporarily to consider future options. Some of the issues surrounding the dumpsters include people overfilling the dumpsters, leaving cardboard around the dumpsters (which requires a considerable amount of time to clean up for Department of Public Works employees), and not breaking down the cardboard boxes (leading to the dumpsters to become prematurely filled).

Residents who need to dispose of more cardboard than will fit in a home recycling cart can order an additional recycling cart by contacting Waste Management at 1-800-866-4460 (for further assistance, contact Town Hall at 412-364-0616).

AARP #2991 meets at noon on the third Thursday of each month at Northmont Presbyterian Church, 8169 Perry Highway in McCandless. Join us for dessert, bingo, entertainment, socialization and much more. Dues are $10 a year. Every visitor will receive a raffle ticket (join and get two tickets). The drawing will be done in October.

Workshop on worship set

Jeremy Casella extends an invitation to experience several events at Hampton Presbyterian Church. A singer-songwriter and performing artist, he inspires with stories behind the songs he plays. From noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 30, a workshop on worship will be held. The event begins with lunch, followed by two 45-minute seminars, “Made for Worship: Understanding What is Already Naming, Shaping and Forming Us” and “Sing the Gospel: Getting the Gospel Out of Our Heads and Into Our Hearts.”

For the workshop, RSVP at www.hamptonpresbyterian.net or email stephanie@hamptonpresbyterian.net. Cost is $35 at the door, which includes lunch, drinks and printed material. Please note dietary restrictions with your RSVP.
