Blue Aprons Thanksgiving Box is a traditional, yet elevated take on the classic turkey dinner designed to simplify holiday meal planning.

Are you in need of Thanksgiving dinner this holiday season? Free Thanksgiving food items are available Saturday at Pittsburgh’s David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

As part of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh’s annual Thanksgiving Distribution and Health and Human Service Fair, people can receive meal items on Saturday.

The Urban League is a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit focused on helping underserved communities.

Richard Morris, director of housing for the Urban League, said registration is already closed, but walk-ins are still permitted after 2 p.m.

When people arrive, they will be registered and put in the queue to go in, he said. In order to receive the free food, people have to visit at least five of the fair vendors in the Health and Human Service Village.

Over 45 vendors will be in the village, according to Morris, where people can get their covid and flu shots, blood pressure checked, health screenings and more.

Morris said the Urban League is expecting about 1,000 people to come for free food on Saturday, including walk-ins, and close to 300 volunteers will help make the event run smoothly.

Though anyone can attend the Thanksgiving distribution, most people are Allegheny County residents, according to Morris. Two groups from Washington County are traveling by bus to be there on Saturday, he said.
