Doug Oster to offer gardening tips at Kittanning plant sale
Noted home and garden editor Doug Oster will share favorite home gardening tips during Armstrong County Penn State Master Gardeners’ annual plant sale on May 18.
The sale is set for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Belmont Complex, 415 Butler Road, Kittanning.
The talk by Oster, manager and editor for Everybody Gardens, will begin at 10 a.m., with a question-and-answer session following.
Items available for purchase will include annuals, shrubs, trees, perennials, vegetables, herbs and soil testing kits. The event also will feature a kids’ activity table, multiple vendors and food trucks.
Local singing duo Doc and Tina from Barbary Wine will perform starting at 11 a.m.
This is the first time that the sale will feature a guest speaker.
Plants sold at the event are cultivated by Master Gardener members in their own greenhouses, with members meeting weekly to help care for them. Sale proceeds benefit the organization’s Pollinator and Herb Garden at the Outdoor Discovery Center in Crooked Creek State Park, community outreach events and classes throughout the year.
