For good food and fun, there’s nothing better than a block party — except maybe a two-block party.

The annual Gig on Main took over two blocks of Irwin’s major thoroughfare on Aug. 3, and party-lovers of all ages stopped in.

A bandstand was set up at the intersection of Main and Fifth streets, creating a block-long dance floor. Twisted Fate and the Spectrum Band did their rockin’ best to warm up the crowd for the headliners, The Clarks.

From grandbabies to grandmas, scores of folks took to the pavement to shake their groove things.

The block between Fourth and Thirds streets was a food truck paradise, with something to satisfy just about every appetite, from barbecue and gyros to chili and meatballs. Donuts, funnel cakes and shaved ice made for a sweet ending, with lemonade and bubble tea to wash it all down. Or, a cold brew from the beer garden for those who were street legal.

Some Main Street merchants stayed open late for shoppers, as did some restaurants, catering to those who preferred a respite from the revelry and a sit-down meal.

The gig is organized by the Irwin Business and Professional Association.

Seen: Karen and Paul Yosi, Cheryl and Bill Barnes, Terri Parker, Ginny DiPrimio Foster, John Russo, Gloria and Scott Brown, Renee and John D’Alesio, Brian Shirer, Nicole Zurick, Jeff Urey, Sharon Argenta, Kim and Larry Bolam, Diane and Roy Owoc, Sharon Gombos, Darryl Sabados, Debbie and Jim Simonetta, Sharon and Rick Decesere, Kelly and Danny Carter and Sue and Frank Surano with their chihuahua, Cheech.
