In case you didn’t get the memo (which actually has been out for quite a while now) — pink isn’t just for girls any more.

On Aug. 22, a whole passel of pink-clad gentlemen gathered in The Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg for the launch of the American Cancer Society’s 2019 Real Men Wear Pink campaign in Westmoreland and Fayette counties.

Kicking off in advance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the initiative invites men to take leadership roles in the fight against breast cancer.

“Community leaders around the nation use the power of pink to raise awareness and money for the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer initiatives, including innovative research, patient services, and education around screenings and risk reduction,” the ACS website says.

The local Class of 2019 includes Robb Bell, Dominic Caringola, Daniel Clara, Terry Clark, Bobby Gordon, Dave Krygowski, James “Pastor Lu” Llewellyn, Michael Lordi, Craig Mankins, Jim McMahan, Jeff Smail Jr. and Mike Zanolli.

The men each vow to raise $2,500 by the end of October, said Dawn Keefer, ACS senior community development manager.

Most appeared to have personal reasons for joining the cause, including seeing friends or family members suffer through the disease or having the desire to prevent loved ones from ever having to deal with it.

The men in pink were also supported by a number of ladies in pink.

Seen: Leigh Ann Ewart, Chris and Sharon Guido, Michelle Lally, Donald Forshey, David Boggs, Christina Clark, Rob Graft, Tammy Barton, Aldo and Erika Clara and Ginny, Olivia, Rocco and Nick Clara.
