Having a glass of wine (or maybe two) at a scenic area winery is a great way to wrap up the work week.

Westmoreland Walks Inc. offered that opportunity to about 130 supporters with Pink Corks at the Vineyard, on Aug. 2 at Bella Terra Vineyards near Hunker.

The sunset event started with hors d’oeuvres and wine-tasting (beer or cocktails for those so inclined), progressed through the evening to dinner and concluded around the beloved Pittsburgh cookie table.

Guests also had a chance to try their luck with raffles and a silent auction, and that traditional American outdoor test of skill, cornhole.

Greensburg-based band The Bricks provided a ’70s soundtrack for the event.

Founded in 2002 by a group of area women whose lives had been affected by breast cancer, Westmoreland Walks hosts events throughout the year to raise funds for breast cancer awareness and research, support for breast cancer patients and their families — including a Spa Serenity Day of pampering for survivors — and scholarships for students whose lives have been affected by the disease.

The group’s annual signature event, the Pink Ribbon Walk, is coming up Oct. 5 at Twin Lakes Park in Unity.

Board members are Kathy Brown, Cricket Rizzo, Rose Buric, Connie Tamewitz, Debbie Weinstein, Elizabeth Alcorn, Rebecca Hazy, Wendy Lint, Cindy Shaffer and Kim Yagla.
