One person was rescued and several people were displaced following a fire in Pittsburgh’s Middle Hill District neighborhood Tuesday evening.

Firefighters responded to the 2300 block of Reed Street just after 7:30 p.m., according to emergency officials.

One resident was rescued from a porch roof, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Public safety officials said that while the fire was contained to one second-story unit, two neighboring units were also exposed to the fire and the Red Cross was assisting several people to find temporary housing.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
