1 killed, another injured in I-79 crash in Franklin Park

A Crescent Township teen died and another was injured Wednesday night in a crash on Interstate 79 in Franklin Park.

State police said Luke Cooper, 18, died after being thrown from the vehicle he was driving. The crash happened after 10 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-79.

Police said Cooper’s vehicle hydroplaned on the wet highway and struck a guardrail.

A passenger, Zachary Jozwiak, 18, of Moon, was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital after the crash. The nature or severity of his injuries was not known.
