It is Mother’s Day weekend. Here are some things to do with mom in Pittsburgh.
Go for a walk
The Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk is on Sunday – Mother’s Day — at Schenley Park. The event is at 9:30 a.m. The course is approximately 2 miles and raises money for breast cancer research. This is the 30th year for the walk, which replaced the annual Race for the Cure.
For the first time, there is no cost to enter. Participants are encouraged to register and raise money.

Doors wide open
Doors Open Pittsburgh is happening on the North Side from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. There are more than 30 buildings for guests to explore. The tour is self-guided.
Some of the locations are Allegheny General Hospital, Bicycle Heaven Museum & Bike Shop, City of Asylum @ Alphabet City, Johnny Angel’s Ginchy Stuff, the National Aviary, PNC Park and the Western Penitentiary.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and $5 for children ages 6-17. Children under 5 are free.

Stars on Ice
“Stars on Ice” will be in Pittsburgh at 4 p.m. on Sunday at PPG Paints Arena, Uptown. The U.S. Figure Skating team from the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, led by gold medal winner Nathan Chen, returns to the ice after a two-year absence because of the pandemic.
The performance will feature a musical medley of songs from Elton John, The Weeknd, AC/DC and Jon Batiste.
Costumes will represent looks throughout the years. It was founded and produced by Olympic gold medalist Scott Hamilton. Past performers include Olympic gold medalists Kristi Yamaguchi, Hamilton, Tara Lipinski and Ekaterina Gordeeva.

Pottery Sale
The Mother of All Pottery Sales is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Union Project located on the Highland Park/East Liberty border. Union Project is a non-profit organization that uses the arts to bridge gaps between communities. Ceramic artists will exhibit and sell their work. There will also be demonstrations of ceramic making.
Events will take place indoors and outside. Facemasks are required.

Swan Lake
Dancers Lucius Kirst and Hannah Carter will perform in Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s production of Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake.” Shows are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts, Downtown.
The production features new staging by artistic director Susan Jaffe.
It tells the story of a beautiful princess named Odette who is cursed by an evil wizard named Von Rothbart. She lives as a swan by day and a human form at night.
