Hampton Township is hosting its annual Community Day on July 3, complete with fireworks, food vendors, music and more.
“It’s a staple in the community. People look forward to it every year. It’s a great day to spend with your neighbors, your friends in the community park,” said Melanie Martino, the township’s parks and recreation programs administrator.
Festivities will start at 1 p.m. at the soccer fields near the Community Center and end around 9:40 p.m., after a fireworks display. Martino expects about 30 vendors to attend, from community organizations to food offerings such as pizza, funnel cakes and beer. There are also inflatable attractions — an obstacle course and giant slide — for kids.
Musical acts will perform throughout the day, as well. Pine Creek Community Band, a group of musicians from the North Hills, and No Bad JuJu have slots at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., respectively. Brass Metropolis, a Chicago tribute band, will take the stage from 7:30 to 9:30.
For those who want to relax by the water, Hampton’s outdoor pool will open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It costs $5 for residents and $8 for non-residents.
In the past, anywhere from 5,000 to 12,000 people have attended the event, so Martino suggests checking the township’s website for parking information and possible road closures to navigate the area easily.
