Allegheny County reports 10th straight day with covid cases below 300

Allegheny County on Tuesday reported 274 additional covid cases, the 10th consecutive day reported cases have been below 300.

Tuesday’s reported cases (149 confirmed and 125 probable) were the second most among that 10-day span, with the most (285) coming Feb. 20.

Cases range in age from 2 months to 96 years, with a median age of 38. Dates of positive tests range from Feb. 13 to Monday, with the county Health Department noting three positive tests were more than a week old.

Total covid-19 cases in Allegheny County are now 75,250.

Covid hospitalizations in the county have increased slightly the past two days, growing from 184 on Sunday to 196 on Tuesday. February has now seen three instances of two-day covid hospitalization increases, all of which have come on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Hospitalizations in the county increased by 24 from Feb. 8 to Feb. 9, and increased by 11 from Feb. 15 to Feb. 16. But they have generally decreased over the course of the month, starting the month with 313 hospitalized.

An additional covid death was reported Tuesday. The individual died Friday and was in their 90s.

Total deaths in the county are now 1,628.
